He studied at the Esteban Lisa Foundation in Buenos Aires, to then become a part of this institution dedicated to the aesthetic education in the field of abstraction. During this period, he met his only mentor who would change his life forever, guiding him onto the path of painting as well as philosophy. From that moment on, Ignacio’s approach to painting extended beyond mere technical aspects and into the realm of achieving an internal state that allows to create meaningful content.
However, after the passing of his mentor, he settled in Europe to pursue his academic training in Fine Arts at various institutions. As of now, he works in figurative painting, placing greater emphasis on the human figure and painting from life. Ignacio Carmona is currently painting in his Atelier while also teaching drawing and painting.
His works are regularly exhibited around Europe and the United States.

In 1984, the Fundacion Esteban Lisa was established to create an institution dedicated to the aesthetic education of man .
Esteban Lisa along with Torres Garcia are considered pioneers of abstraction in Latin America. Ignacio Carmona along with other Isaac Zylberberg's students are part of the institution.
For Esteban Lisa art was the highest form of human expression. He often told his students “art is not about making things it is about arriving at an internal state that makes it possible to create meaning” he was convinced that the road to creation lay between the emotion and the intellect.
